Florida Polytechnic University was ranked the first public university in the southern region of the United States, according to American News and World Report.
In its list of the top 2022 colleges released on Monday, US News and World Report ranks Florida Poly third among the best colleges in the world. Southern United States, including public and private. The University has been ranked nationally at number 26 among public engineering programs without a doctorate. The ranking comes only a year after the University debuted in the top 40 public colleges in this category. Among nearly 240 public and private undergraduate engineering programs, Florida Poly jumped 19 places to number 53 from number 72 last year, largely thanks to the university’s advancements in teaching engineering.
“Our outstanding performance in these rankings is proof that Florida Poly has become a dynamic provider of STEM education, on par with some of the nation’s best-known institutions,” said Dr. Randy K. Advent, president of the University. “Our academic programs, which offer a highly tactile model with small class sizes and strong teaching experiences, continue to grow and provide a rich environment that fosters student development and success.”
Florida Poly was also ranked as one of the best value schools – number 31 in the south and second in Florida. Its modest tuition fee, along with institutional financial aid and scholarships, strongly attracts many talented students interested in affordable, top-notch STEM education in a small setting.

The US News Recognition is the latest in a series of recent national and regional rankings for Florida Poly. It also comes as the University is enjoying an academic year of significant growth. The fall 2021 incoming student class is the largest in Florida Poly history, growing 25% from the previous year.
